General Membership Meeting/Luncheon "State of the Chapter" Report

The first general membership meeting of 2016 at one of the Chapter’s favorite venues, The Mash House Restaurant and Brewery.
Special guests included: Don Talbot, Chairman of the Freedom Memorial Park Steering Committee; and, Bryan Fox representing US Representative Rene Ellmers.
Don Talbot presented a short spiel on his current initiative to raise $25,000 to add a Global War on Terror Monument to the Freedom Memorial Park to honor and memorialize our military men and women who have served and continue to serve since 9-11. President Chavez presented Mr. Talbot an initial donation of $2,500 and pledge to raise the remainder.
President Chavez also presented a donation of $1,200 to the National Sojourners to help fund the attendance of two worthy high school ROTC cadets at the annual Spirit of America Youth Leadership Conference held in the Freedoms Foundation, Valley Forge PA. Mr. Andy Drenkhahn, Project Officer accepted the donation.
The MOAA Leadership Award was presented to Ed Thomas for his 12 years of service as Chapter Treasurer, and to Bill Dadek (posthumously) for his 8 years of service as the 3rd Vice President and Chairman of the ROTC Scholarships Committee. Mrs. Maureen Dadek accepted the award for her late husband.
Vietnam Veterans Lapel Pins were presented to 5 surviving spouses, and to 9 veterans who were unable to attend the Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemorative event held in November 2015.
Finally, President Chavez presented the annual “State of the Chapter Report”, summarizing the events and accomplishments of 2015, and explaining the chapter's goals for 2016.
